What's up Wednesday?!

Happy hump day! We're halfway through the week, our MOPS group kicks off tonight (say a prayer for me, please...this is my first year as the coordinator), and the weather is glorious. What can be better than that?! I'm linking up with some of my favorite bloggers (Shay, Shaeffer and Mel) for a little, "What's Up Wednesday?!"

FIVE on Friday!

Hello, Friday. You are my favorite! Especially today.
It's the last day of the first full week of school, and I've got to be honest, I'm beat. My voice is practically gone because it's so tired from overuse, and I haven't been sleeping well at night. The first few weeks of school are like a blur to me....and then I settle into a routine and all is well again.
But, it's Friday! I'll fight through the exhaustion for a smile. And am looking forward to some great football tonight!
With that said, here are some of my favorites from the week.
[ONE]
Bolthouse Farms dressing. If you haven't tried it, you need to! I started buying it after I learned that it was approved for the 21-day fix. And then I was hooked! I used to have 34789325 coffee creamers in my fridge, and now I have these. My favorites are classic ranch, avocado cilantro, and blue cheese. But, there are so many more than that. Most grocery stores carry them in the refrigerated section, right by the bagged salads. Try them! You're welcome.

Show & Tell Tuesday

I'm linking up with one of my favorite bloggers, Andrea, to share my Show & Tell Tuesday post. Today's topic...name 5 people you'd want to invite to a dinner party.
Fun!
This was REALLY hard for me because there are so many people I'd love to have at a dinner party. I want fun, intriguing, inspiring, uplifting and down to earth people there.
1. Kelly Ripa

The obvious choice, for me, is Kelly Ripa. She's my celebrity crush and has been since she started on Regis and Kelly many, many years ago. She's fun, funny and I think she'd be so easy to chat with! Seriously, I think we'd be friends! Even though I never watch TV at 9am, I DVR her show every.single.day and have for 5+ years. Often, I only watch little clips from the beginning of the show, but she's my favorite person on TV so she'd get the first invite.

The weekend!

Whew! What a weekend! I survived my first week back-to-school and am (mostly) looking forward to another great week with my students. It was so nice to have a fun-filled, sunny weekend, to keep the flame of summer alive!

Friday, our state fair opened and I met my sister, her kids and my parents (who had my girls) down there for a fun-filled afternoon! Originally, our plan was to buy the kids ride bracelets so they could spend an afternoon doing rides, but we found out that opening day, there are NO ride bracelets. Say what?! So instead, we opted for the food, the animals and all the sight seeing. We'll go back another day for the rides!

Oh, and did I mention that it was H-O-T?! Yeah, I was sweating! And pushing a double stroller. The entire afternoon. #icounteditasmyworkout #duh

Oh, and it was Blue Friday, too! If you aren't from the Seattle area, you wouldn't understand. Trust me. ;-)

Friday night, after logging 3479249 miles of walking at the fair, we drove up north for Adam's football game. It was a beautiful night! Sadly, we lost the game (especially after being ahead by a lot at half time).  However, it was non-league, and doesn't count in our record. My mother-in-law graciously watches our kids most football games so that I can watch without wrangling and dealing with overtired, cranky children. It is a HUGE blessing to me!

Saturday morning, the sun was shining, and my car was full of kids excited for Jake's very first official tackle football game. Adam had been there much earlier setting up, so I was alone, the music was blasting and we were pumped!!

People kept asking me if I was nervous because Jake plays quarterback. Honestly, I thought I would be, but I wasn't. Mostly, just SO excited. I love the absolute passion my boy has for the game. He studies film, draws plays for days, and talks football with his daddy, non stop. When he's on the field, I'm just so happy because I know he is, too.

They had a great win over this team and Jake had a couple TD's and some fun plays to watch. A great start to the season!!

We commemorated the moment with a family pic.

Saturday afternoons were for naps and some cookie baking with chef Brett. These whole wheat sugar cookies were yum! And he made them completely from scratch with ZERO help from either of us! I'm telling you, he's getting good! Someday, he's going to make some lady happy! Who wouldn't want to marry a chef?!

Sunday, we made a pact that the day was all about our family. We are going in a million different directions, and we wanted to focus on each other. We missed church (for the first time in a loooong time) and spent our entire morning just hanging out and enjoying eachother's company. Adam even went up and grabbed Starbucks for the special occasion. Molly felt it necessary to add some flair to her Seahawks gear as we prepared for the first regular season game against the Rams. Another sad loss!

This is what they did, while me and the boys watched the game.

And then Sunday night brought dinner with my entire family. One of my favorite nights of the week.

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend with family and friends! Bring on week #2 of school!

It's time for some favorites!

Hey, Friday! Well, we made it! Our first official week of school and everyone is still smiling and happy. The state fair opens today, my hubby has a football game tonight, Jake has a game tomorrow and both the Huskies and Seahawks play this weekend. Woot! Oh, and did I mention the weather is #perfection!

Hello, fall!

I'm excited to share a few favorites with you this week.

ONE

Have you seen these great snack packs from Costco? They come in a set of four for just over $4. A steal, if you ask me! They are great to throw in kids lunches at the last minute, or to send with Jake to football practice. I don't feel like I'm feeding him junk and empty calories!

TWO

Apparently, Starbucks changed up its Pumpkin Spice flavor this year, and I'm not gonna lie, it's A-MAZING! If you are a pumpkin lover, you've got to try it out! I gave up coffee creamer and flavors last May, but every once in a while, treat myself. Yesterday, the girls and I took a walk to Starbucks and I ordered an iced coffee with the pumpkin spice flavor. One of the best drinks I've had, yet!

THREE

This ticket!! Eeeek!!!! I got an email yesterday that I've earned a free trip to "Summit", which is the national Beachbody convention, next July!! I'm beyond excited, as the event has been sold out, and the only way to go, at this point, is to earn the trip! This company has changed me, completely! It's changed my body, and it's changed our financial status. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE teaching, but this is something that I can do, in addition, that gives our family SO MUCH flexible spending/savings. I love how God provides in the most unexpected ways!

FOUR

Um, could they be any cuter? I'm counting them (and these princess costumes) as a favorite! This week, I've gotten to spend more uninterrupted quality time with my girls, now that school is back in session. I'm cherishing that time, because I know it will go quickly! Molly is in morning preschool (while I'm at school), so we have our afternoons together. And I love it. They are fun, spunky, hilarious, chatty and oh so sweet! We do girly things, like paint our nails and play barbies.....but we also jump on the trampoline, take walks and go on the swings. My favorite job of all time is being a mom. Nothing better in the world!

FIVE

This quote. I saw this on Instagram this week and immediately screen shot it. It speaks so much truth. We are quick to judge in life, but if we truly knew that background and heart of people, I think we would be more willing to give them grace. This is going to be my mission, especially as a teacher, this year. Everyone has a story and everyone's story deserves to be heard.

With that, happiest BLUE Friday to you, friends! We are dressing in our Seahawks gear today and getting ready for a fun and full weekend!

Our last {long} weekend....

Sigh. It's here. The last night of summer. In some ways, it feels like summer flew by, and in other ways, it lasted forever.

I have to be honest, I'm excited for my boys to start back in school and I have SO much respect for you homeschooling mamas. I just can't imagine not sending them into someone else's care for my own sanity! I'm looking forward to routines, and schedules.

And earlier bedtimes.

I'm not looking forward to an earlier alarm and the inability to lounge on the couch in my pajamas, while drinking coffee. I will miss that.

To celebrate the last weekend of the summer, my sister and I took the younger kids to the zoo on Friday. The weather was very cool and the animals were out. It was great!

Meanwhile, my hubby and his football team travelled across the state to play one of the best football teams. They were gone from noon until 3:30AM. Yes, you read that right. It was a tough loss, but hopefully, they learned a lot and can put the loss behind them to start the regular season of play.

Friday night, for me, included snuggling this sweet baby girl and visiting with her mama until the wee hours of the night.

Saturday, I knew I needed some time out of the house and Molly really wanted time with me, so we set out for a "girls day" (a phrase coined by her). Lunch. Manis/pedis. Target. Couldn't get any better.

Sometimes I really forget that she's just three because we can chat all day. She's the best.

Our Saturday night was full of fun. Mostly because daddy was home (until he left for his football meeting)! Kick-the-can is one of our all-time favorites!

I love Sundays because we start the morning with coffee and cuddles on the couch....and then church. Somehow, when I walk out of church, I feel refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Her artistic ability impresses me! I'm positive that my boys weren't coloring this well at age 3.

Sunday night was THE BEST. A group of our closest friends got together for an end-of-summer celebration. Mexican style. Complete with yummy food and drinks, a piñata, salsa dancing and games. We laughed so hard that we cried. And I think it was exactly what we needed to kick off the school year.

Some piñata action.

And then we come home and it's back to this. #footballlife #footballwife

But, through it all, we are grateful.

Goodbye summer! It's been one for the books!
